I installed  latest version of zenoss manualy  as mentioned in http://wiki.zenoss.org/index.php?title=Zenoss_Core_5_Beta/Download&redirect=no#Manual_Deployment. but I can't seem to connect to Zenoss core.

I can access the control centre and tsdb interface on 4242 but not able to load zenoss core.
I can't find any resolution for that, so  please share on how we can fix this.

zenoss 5.2 transform rrdvalue problem

hi

some time ago I installed zenoss 5

I created custom graphics and wanted to use RRDValue of this graphics in the transforms, but it didn't work.

For example, evt.bscount =  int(device.getRRDValue('bs_Count')). It works in zenoss 4.

is there a way to use RRDValue (or datapoint metric value) in the transforms in zenoss 5.2?

We have an issue running Zenoss Core 5.1.10 on CentOS 7.

After installing or upgradiing a number of ZenPacks, per instructions we perform an inline snapshot of the Core 5 container.

We encountered a recent issues where if the container contains more than 127 parents, serviced will not start up.

Error response from daemon: Cannot create container with more than 127 parents

Please provide assistance for us to manage this situation. We attempted using docker commands to clean up but it will not allow clean up.

Thanks,

Ken

We have an issue running Zenoss Core 5.1.10 on CentOS 7.

After installing or upgradiing a number of ZenPacks, per instructions we perform an inline snapshot of the Core 5 container.

The issue seems to spawn from this command: serviced service run zope zenpack-manager install $ZENPACK
This is the command creating a new layer (parent)

We encountered a recent issues where if the container contains more than 127 parents, serviced will not start up.

Error response from daemon: Cannot create container with more than 127 parents

Please provide assistance for us to manage this situation. We attempted using docker commands to clean up but it will not allow clean up.

Need a Template for Monitoring IP Card

Good day Everyone in the Zenoss community,

I need some assistance please, I recently started in our Functional support division in my company where I have two separate duties I need to assist and attend to, Primary is our Call centre Aspect telephone System and the secondary department is our IT monitoring department. The help I need on is that there is a part in both environments that need to be integrated. Our monitoring department does indeed use Zenoss Core 3.1 (Which they tell me they are going to install/upgrade to the latest version). In our Aspect Telephone system There is a VoIP Card which needs to be monitored. Now what I need support or assistance on is that the other members instructed me to find out regarding a template that can be used to be able to monitor the VoIP Card for situations for when it might go off or fail, they informed me that they cannot see/find any template that they currently have to use, as we have tested multiple templates with the VoIP Card IP Address, when switching it off manually, there is no notification regarding the card being off.

If someone can please give any advice or assist in this matter it will be Highly appreciated, this is actually my first time adding or asking in a forum, let alone about an open source application.

Thanks in advance.

Fresh install issues zenoss core 5.1.9 & 5.2.1

Hi All,

Im having some issues getting things off the ground.  I original installed 5.1.9 from the ISO/DVD successfully onto an old desktop I had lying around (HP 6200 PRO MT 8GB ram and 500Gb sata disk) I got things up and running and was monitoring a couple of servers and some switches, I quickly realised this machine wouldnt be enough for my test but I liked what i'd seen so far with ZenOSS.. so decided to do a fresh install on better hardware and this is where everything has unravelled kind of....   I should state that with the ISO /DVD Ive tried fully automated install setting no options just letting it do its thing(which is what i though I did on my dekstop machine)and changing things like host/static ip as part of setup.  The installation goes as expected(no erros during install on screen) and after selecting "Master" and change the passwords the installaton only responds on 22 53 and 8090.  I've still got the original ZenOSS desktop running and i've compared as many files/logs as i can find looking for something to tell me whats not happening so i can fix it... I cannot find that magically line of code in the logfiles so I've come here to ask for advise or help as i'm stuck and dont know what I've done wrong or how to correct the situation.

What Ive tried so far

Bare metal

ZenOSS core 5.1.9 installed on Dell T310 with 16GB ram, 180GB raid 1 - let it automatically partition disk, let it install with default values ie DHCP IP and not setting hostname or search domain.

ZenOSS core 5.19 installed same as above but set static IP/hostname/search domain.

ZenOSS core 5.2.1 wont install barfs about sdb just before GUI installer starts.

ZenOSS core 5.2.1 added another HD so it has sda sdb before installing, again barfs about sdc this time just before GUI starts.

VMware guest

ZenOSS core 5.1.9 ESXi 6.5 guest  VM 16GB ram,180GB disk - let it automatically partition disk, let it install with default values ie DHCP IP and not setting hostname or search domain

ZenOSS core 5.1.9 installed same as above but set static IP/hostname/search domain.

ZenOSS core 5.1.9 VMware vSphere 5 Enterprise guest VM same as above two.

ZenOSS core 5.2.1 Barfs about sdb/sdc just before GUI installer starts.

Results from above always the same

Only ports 22 53 & 8090 open and working as expected, ip addr / ps axu shown below.  When i compare this to my working host i can see 77 veth connections linked to docker0.  When i compare the output of  #ps axu , my working host has lots of redis & and a ton of docker processes running but as you can see below ive got SOD all running for docker and redis..   Ive tried multiple installs of the above, by nuking the host/guest vm and nothing is working.

Is there anything simple that I'm missing or no doing that is causing this or is there a problem with the media? I'm running out of machines to try installing on so i cant 100% rule out media... but for now as I've installed successfully the first time from the same media used I'm assuming its good and the issues is somewhere between the chair & keyboard.  Im very new to docker hence why I used the resources/ISO in the email I got from ZenOSS.  I'm aware i can manually install ZenOSS which will be my next step I just didnt want that learning curve at the same time as evaluating ZenOSS.

Any help / advise / suggestions would be great - I dont like losing to computers so would really like to understand whats going on and why its not working before I pull out what little hair I have left.

Many thanks in advance.

Gabe

Mapping issue

I have recently deployed the latest OVA release of Zenoss core 5.2.2.  I have got my devices up and being monitored but when I am trying to location mapping it is coming up in a way I don't want.  We have a 30 or so device MPLS mesh spread out over a good distance.  When the map renders it is connecting every single device to every other single device in the mesh with a network line.  While this is correct it is not how the older version (3.1.2) mapped these devices for us.  In that version there was a single line from directly connected device to device.

The new version of the map does not do me a lot of good from any kind of troubleshooting perspective if I need it for that.  Any thoughs on a parameter I could change that will give me something more similar to the original display?

Duplicate post. Sorry

Hello,

I've just intalled zenoss ova but I do not have DHCP.

When I try to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 I do not have root access

I tried sudo but I do not have root password.

Two questions:

  • How can I modify IP address
  • What is root password

Best regards.

I am unable to start docker after editing the /etc/sysconfig/docker file.

[root@x1zen017 zenoss]# systemctl restart docker
Job for docker.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status docker.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

Monitoring Calix E7-2

Has anyone set up to monitor these devices before?  Or any Calix gear at all.  I did manage to get the MIBs imported via the GUI but can't figure out where or what I need to configure for the box to actually use those MIBS to talk to the Calix equipment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  If someone would even be willing to built a template I can supply the MIB files as well.

Display Zenoss Core 5 Graphs in HTML page

Hello all,

I need to know a method to put Zenoss Core 5 graphs into a static HTML page.

When I generate the Graph link it opens well (without ask for username and/or password) since I've logged in at Zenoss interface.

When I close the browser and reopen it and paste the copied link and try to view the graph.... It ask me for Zenoss username and password.

Other thing is... I try to load the graph link inside an Iframe in HTML page and at the Element inpection I've seen something like X-Frame-Option not allowed, OK I understand that it is for security reasons.

And more, I have Zenoss 3 installed in another machine and configured the View of RenderServer to Anonymous access then I can view the image of graph link at the browser without Zenoss ask me for user/password and better, I can put this image in a static HTML page as I need.

The question is... How I can do it on Zenoss Core 5 ?

Thanks.

From a new community member installing 4.2.5 using Jane Curry's updated script.

He ran into the following issue.  Community input appreciated.  Cheers!

Hi Guys,
I found the next bug in the installer script. I haven't had a chance to resolve it manually but it looks like it fails on trying to grab rpms from rpmforge?:

HI,

I'm having trouble with my 5.2.2 instance. It started with 5.0/5.1 and the latest upgrade did not solve anything. I also upgrade LinuxMonitor since I interpreted the fault to be there.

There is an alarm from every device in the class /Server/SSH/Linux;
"Unable to process COMMAND datasource(s) for device NAME-HERE -- skipping".

The traceback;
